Ottensen

Starting point for the tour Ottensen is the Altona railway station. From here, we pass Neue Mitte Altona, the relocation of the old railway station and development of the Altona railway station site to a new residential area. Via the pedestrian precinct, through the Mercado, small side streets and backyards the way leads to Gustav Oelsners famous Zeilenbauten at Bunsenstraße as well as to the former ship propeller factory Zeise in Zeishallen and the new Zeisehof at Friedensallee. We end at residential area Fischers Höfe on the site of the former Asche AG located there.

The tour shows the contrast between the conversion of derelict industrial sites to old and new residential areas, shopping and offices in this vibrant, small-sized and popular district of Hamburg.
